HazeMD is an emulator for the PC designed to faithfully and precisely emulate the entire software library released for the Sega Mega Drive, including many unlicensed cartridges which did not then function correctly on rival emulators.

The emulator is built on the MAME source, making use of the existing foundations (CPU and sound emulation cores, emulation framework) to provide accurate emulation of the core components of the system. It was designed as a side-project of MAME by developer David "Haze" Haywood, and was used to help advance Mega-Tech, Mega Play and other arcade machines which were based on the Mega Drive.

The emulator has since been discontinued, as all of the code has since been merged with the MESS project (which itself was later merged with MAME). It is no longer available to download on Haze's site.

Unofficial versions are HazeMD32 and HazeMD32FX for Windows, which adds a GUI (HazeMD is normally a command-line program), and SDL HazeMD for various Mac computers. There was also briefly a HazeMD Plus! from the developers of MAME Plus!.[2]
