MediEvil is an action-adventure game developed by Millennium Interactive (later known as SCEE Cambridge Studio). It was released for the PlayStation in 1998.[2]
Work on MediEvil began after Chris Sorrell, the game's producer, finished helping out on two edutainment games based on books by Raymond Briggs: The Snowman and Father Christmas.[3] Initially, MediEvil was targetting the Sega Saturn and Windows 95.[4] The team started working on a version of the game for the Saturn and thought Sega may become the game's publisher.[5] However, development was restarted from scratch after Sony became the game's publisher ten months into development, making the game a PlayStation exclusive.[6]
