Naoki Aoki (青木 直喜) is a Japanese executive and game designer who worked at Sega. He joined Sega Enterprises in the 70's (both 72[2] and 76[1] have been given) and he worked as a game designer on Mark III, Mega Drive and Game Gear titles[2]. Notable works include Osomatsu-kun Hachamecha Gekijou and Phantasy Star II[1]. He has also been called the creator of Phantasy Star[3].

Aoki gained fame[3] during the Mega Drive era in the lead-up to the release of the Mega-CD. He became general manager Sega of Japan's Planning and Production division[4] and the director of Sonic Co. [2], the developers of Shining Force. He is last recorded as being the manager for second-party developers.[5]
