Phantasy Star II: Kinds's Adventure (ファンタシースターII テキストアドベンチャー カインズの冒険) is a Sega Mega Drive graphic text adventure game developed and published by Sega. Initially released exclusively via the Japanese Sega Game Toshokan online game service in January 1991, it was later re-released as part of the Sega Mega-CD title Game no Kanzume Vol. 2 and the Sony PlayStation 2 title Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 32: Phantasy Star Complete Collection, and was also released as as part of Sega's B-Club service.
Available as part of an eight-game series collectively known as the Phantasy Star II Text Adventures, Phantasy Star II: Kinds's Adventure concerns the story of the player's companion and party member Kain from the 1989 role-playing game Phantasy Star II.

Story
The game takes place in the autumn of AW 1281, about three years before the onset of Phantasy Star II.
Josh Kain (or Kain Ji An, Japanese: カインズ・ジ・アン Kainzu) is an 18 year old aspiring engineer who always loved machines, and had become quite knowledgeable in how electrical devices and robots function. He built many small devices, fixed appliances, and even learned to hack computers. However, due to being scatterbrained and clumsy, he would sometimes destroy the things he tried to fix. Eventually, after one particularly disastrous repair job, he gave up trying to be an engineer, deciding instead to put his "talent" for destroying things to good use. Thus did he become a "wrecker", his job being to trash anything electronic. He starts off joining a gang of rebels out to destroy Mother Brain, before he eventually ends up teaming up with Rolf in Phantasy Star II towards that very end.
Gameplay
Each of the Phantasy Star II Text Adventure games had identical gameplay mechanics. On the screen are small graphics showing an on-screen event as well as a textual description of it. The player can progress through the game using the "Move", "Look", "Take", "Use", and "Drop" commands. The player also has HP, which factors into battle sequences, and MST (Meseta), currency used in shops.
