Sega Entertainment Releases Its First Original PC Title, Breaks Into Strategy Game Genre; "Conflict of Nations" Takes Gamers Beyond Traditional Real-Time Strategy Games.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1998--You're on the brink of war. The enemy is advancing. Don't think you can just gather troops, collect resources and expect to win...this is the real world. You've got a real country to lead, and must deal with assassination attempts on your Emperor, troops with low morale, striking workers and the threat of espionage. But keep your sense of humor, you'll need it!

Sega(r) Entertainment, Inc. (SEI), a company best known for its popular PC conversions of Sega arcade and character-based games, announced today its first original content title for the PC called "Conflict of Nations(tm)." A combination real-time strategy/adventure game with unique, satirical humor exploring the truly dark side of war, "Conflict of Nations" is a true-to-life wartime escalation between actual countries during the Imperialistic start of the 20th century.

This title sets new standards in the real-time strategy category with enhanced combat over air, sea and land. Each player has 15 commercial characters, 40 unit types and 28 building types to create, manage and control with extensive, but user friendly, resource management and the most advanced multi-player features yet seen in any strategy game. "Conflict of Nations" will be available in November 1998 in stores nationwide.

"Conflict of Nations" challenges gamers to go a step beyond the traditional "command and conquer" gameplay seen in many other real-time strategy games. This game incorporates all aspects of real war in real life. Players must learn not only how to best lead their country to victory, but how to successfully handle all levels of human interaction in wartime situations. By managing numerous people, each of whom plays a different and critical role in creating a fully functioning nation, gamers can explore the deeper effects and challenges of war.

Also unique to "Conflict of Nations" is a complex level of espionage. In addition to handling real-time war problems like toughing out unexpected battles, finding additional resources and managing the morale of troops, players must watch their backs. "Conflict of Nations" takes the gameplay to another level with various espionage agents who attempt to discover the true strengths and weaknesses of the opposition.

"Conflict of Nations" incorporates twisted, black humor into all aspects of gameplay. Therefore, although "Conflict of Nations" is realistic enough to get gamers completely immersed in the genuine war experience, the satire allows them to step back, laugh and taunt challengers.

"Conflict of Nations" is an original design created and developed by NMS Software in England. NMS Software is best known for their "Tilt!" and "Mass Destruction" arcade titles and their "Risk" and "Battleship" strategy games.

"We are very happy to be working so closely with Sega on `Conflict of Nations' and are impressed by the way Sega operates and the creative freedom they allow their developers," said Steve Bruce, managing director, NMS. "Sega's vision and support have allowed us to design and develop a unique and revolutionary new form of strategy game which is going to take the strategy market by storm."
