SEGA Mobile Shreds Wireless Boundaries with SEGA Snowboarding

SAN DIEGO - February 3, 2003 - QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, and SEGA Mobile, a division of Sega.com, Inc., dedicated to bringing SEGA content to the mobile market in North America, today announced the development of several classic and action-packed games for QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless™ (BREW™) platform. SEGA Mobile is offering wireless subscribers classic games including Flicky, Pengo and SEGA Fast Lane, and plenty of adrenaline-pumping excitement with the BREW-exclusive SEGA Snowboarding.

"Our initial offering of SEGA Mobile games developed for the BREW platform provide wireless users with an exciting and compelling gaming experience right at their finger tips," said Jennifer Walters, director of marketing, Sega.com. "Using BREW technology, our development team was able to quickly bring SEGA Snowboarding as well as other SEGA classics titles to the wireless market, transforming your average cell phone into an entertainment device."

"SEGA is an internationally recognized brand in video games and we are excited that wireless subscribers can now enjoy the SEGA experience," said Gina Lombardi, senior vice president of marketing and product management, QUALCOMM Internet Services. "We look forward to growing our relationship with SEGA Mobile and giving consumers with BREW devices access to games from one of the most accomplished game companies in the industry."

SEGA titles currently available for consumers with BREW devices include Flicky, a game that gives players the daring mission of rescuing baby chicks from an evil cat and Pengo, a classic SEGA game where players control a tuxedo-wearing penguin protecting its territory from invading Sno-bees. In addition, gamers will be able to experience SEGA Fast Lane, a heart-pounding racing game that puts drivers behind a classic-looking Formula One car as well as SEGA Snowboarding, an intense grab-and-grind snowboarding game for obstacle-chewing slope lovers. A list of games running on BREW-enabled handsets as well as additional gameplay information is available at: www.us.segamobile.com.

Deployments of the BREW solution continue as operators throughout the world join Verizon Wireless and ALLTEL in the United States, KTF in South Korea and KDDI in Japan in commercializing BREW-based services. Brasilcel, a joint venture between Spain's Telefonica Moviles and Portugal Telecom, plans to roll out BREW services to subscribers in Latin America in March 2003. U.S. Cellular has launched a BREW user trial and China Unicom announced its plans to launch BREW-based services in China in the first half of 2003. Thirty-two BREW-enabled handset models are already available to consumers worldwide, and 33 device manufacturers have indicated their interest in the BREW platform.

QUALCOMM's BREW platform is a thin application execution environment that provides an open, standard platform for wireless devices. The BREW platform is part of a complete, end-to- end solution for wireless applications development, device configuration, application distribution, and billing and payment. The complete BREW solution includes the BREW SDK™ (software development kit) for developers, the BREW applications platform and porting tools for device manufacturers, and the BREW Distribution System (BDS) that is controlled and managed by operators - enabling them to easily get applications from developers to market and coordinate the billing and payment process. Operators' BREW-based services will enable consumers to customize their handsets by downloading applications over the air from an operator's application download server. The BREW platform is a product of QIS, a division within the QUALCOMM Wireless & Internet (QWI) Group of QUALCOMM Incorporated.
