Dreamcast Diaspora

From Sega Retro

I am in the process of creating my own wiki site more aimed at video games in general (as opposed to just focusing on Sega) and created this same page] on it because I hadn't been able to find a list of Sega's game output for the remainder of the sixth generation, post-Dreamcast. I felt that it could be a useful list of games since so many had either started development on the Dreamcast or most likely would have been released on the system, had it remained in production for the timespan of a "normal" console, collectively making for a sort of "Virtual Dreamcast", if you will. The criteria for games on the list started as just games that Sega produced/developed but expanded to games like Fable which have been confirmed to have been in development for the Dreamcast at one time (incidentally, I cited this on my own site to avoid confusion of people thinking I was just adding random Xbox games to the list that had no real connection with Sega but the standard wiki reference syntax that I used didn't work on this wiki - do you have some other way to cite sources or do you just not do that here?). And finally I added a few games that were seen as spiritual successors to Dreamcast games such as Project Gotham Racing which was released for the Xbox by the developers of Metropolis Street Racer. Of course, it isn't yet an exhaustive list so please add/modify/delete games at your discretion, especially if you'd rather not include "spiritual successor" type games - the list is getting rather long. And if you feel that the article itself isn't a necessary addition to the wiki, feel free to delete it. One final note: I came up with the name "Dreamcast Diaspora" to describe these games, myself, and rather enjoy using the phrase. However, if you decide that you would rather use a more descriptive title for the article (such as Dreamcast games released for other systems) feel free to do so. --Lakster (talk) 09:23, 10 February 2014 (CST)

Category:Unreleased Dreamcast games probably does the job better. You could argue hundreds of games would have been released on the Dreamcast had Dreamcast production continued
Either way sequels to Dreamcast games (like Project Gotham Racing) are out of this wiki's scope. It's just speculation for that sort of thing - I wouldn't bother with those. -Black Squirrel (talk) 10:09, 10 February 2014 (CST)
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Unreleased Dreamcast games, I hadn't noticed that before (the article itself does a better job than the category). However, although there is some overlap with the games I've listed here, this list is intended to be games actually released on PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox that people would be able to play. As I said before, I originally started the list with the intent of sticking to "games produced by Sega in the sixth generation post Dreamcast" and then added a few titles like Project Gotham Racing and Fable that didn't fit that mold - I think I will return to that original concept (since it IS written that way in the article) and remove those other games.
