Taz-Mania, also known as Taz-Maniz: The Search for the Lost Seabirds, is a platform game released in 1992 for the Sega Game Gear. It is based on the cartoon series with the same name. The game is notorious for its high difficulty, excessive slowdown, and dissonant soundtrack.

Story

Taz wants to find a Giant Seabird egg so he can make the biggest omelette in the world.

Score screen

The game is a platformer played as the Looney Tunes character Taz the Tasmanian Devil. Many of the levels are autoscrolling chase scenes, but there are also conventional platforming levels. Taz walks with Left and Right. He jumps with 2 and jumps higher if the button is held longer. He can defeat enemies by jumping on top of them. Taz starts spinning into a tornado with 1 and continues spinning until 1 is pressed again. He is invulnerable and passes through enemies and hazards while spinning. Spinning drains energy, and Taz stops spinning if his energy is too low. He can spin in midair, which can be used to extend his jump distance.

Taz's energy goes down from taking damage from an enemy or hazard and from spinning. He loses a life if he runs out of energy. The player can view the score and the number of lives remaining by pausing the game with  START . Taz can replenish his energy by eating food items, which he can do by standing over them and pressing Down. The game ends if Taz runs out of lives.

The Iceman's Cavern
This is the only boss fight in the game. Jumping and spinning near an icicle releases a flame from the vents on the floor, which damages the Abominable Snowman if he is standing over it. Spinning does not cost energy in this level.

The Sky-Cross
Taz can flap his wings and fly with 22222, but doing so drains energy. He stops flapping and falls if he runs out of energy. He can replenish his energy by flying into the yellow clouds.
