Sega Vintage Collection: ToeJam & Earl, known in Japan as ToeJam & Earl Collection (トージャム＆アールコレクション), is a compilation for Xbox Live Arcade containing the Sega Mega Drive games, ToeJam & Earl and its sequel, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron. It was released as part of the Sega Vintage Collection and Sega Ages Online series. It marks the first time Panic on Funkotron was released in Japan.

These games were released separately on the PlayStation Network service at about the same time.

Gameplay

Both of the games in the collection have a variety of additional features, such as the ability to save and load savestates, settings to change the display and use decorative wallpapers to fill the screen borders, and being able to save replays of the player's sessions to be played back later. The collection also include multiple regional versions of each game, and the player can freely choose which version they would like to play in the settings.

Also included is a Jukebox, which allows the player to listen to the music in each of the games. Songs are sorted by game and can be played continuously or shuffled. The player can also add songs to a custom playlist, and up to 100 songs can be added to the playlist at a time.

Both games support multiplayer, both local and online via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. To start a local multiplayer session, a game must be started in Local Play and the  START  button has to be pressed on the second controller at any time.

Trials

Each of the Sega Vintage Collection/Sega Ages Online collections include "Trials", which challenge the player to complete specific objectives with special rules and aim for the best time or score they can. Completed runs can be uploaded to online leaderboards, and replays of the best runs can be downloaded and played back. The player cannot pause the game during a trial, and must stop the trial in order to access the Pause Menu.

ToeJam & Earl

	Fixed World Challenge
	Time limit: 360 minutes
	"A playthrough challenge on a Fixed World. Try to clear the game within 360 minutes! Play carefully and watch your total damage!" The objective of this trial is to play through the Fixed World and complete the game within six hours while taking as little damage as possible. Taking damage will raise the player's score as a penalty, and dying will incur a penalty of 100 points, however the player has infinite lives. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl, and pausing is allowed for this trial.
	Random World Challenge
	Time limit: 360 minutes
	"Challenge a formidable Random World! The least damage in 360 minutes wins! Can you be the hero of Planet Funkotron?" The objective of this trial is to play through the Random World and complete the game within six hours while taking as little damage as possible. Taking damage will raise the player's score as a penalty, and dying will incur a penalty of 100 points, however the player has infinite lives. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl, and pausing is allowed for this trial.
	Rocket Skate Rhapsody
	Target time: 300 seconds Time limit: 10 minutes
	"Go spaceship part hunting on Rocket Skates! Grab all 10 parts as they appear while flying along at supersonic speeds!" The objective of this trial is to play through a pre-generated level and collect all 10 rocketship pieces as quickly as possible. The player has Rocket Skates active at all times and must navigate the level carefully, as falling off will fail the trial. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl for this trial.

ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron

	Caverns of Coolness Challenge
	Target time: 120 seconds Time limit: 10 minutes
	"Grab all the Earthlings! Infinite Super Jar! No going out of bounds, no mistakes!" The objective of this trial is to go through the Caverns of Coolness and catch all 15 Earthlings as quickly as possible without dying. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl, and has infinite Super Jars for this trial.
	Check It Out! I'm A Fish!
	Target time: 60 seconds Time limit: 10 minutes
	"Swim as fast as you can! The goal is on the other side of the stage! Run out of air and GAME OVER!" The objective of this trial is to swim through the underwater tunnel of the Awesome Arctic and reach the goal as quickly as possible without drowning. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl for this trial.
	Funky Runner
	Target score: 20,000 points
	"Get a high score at the Hyperfunk Zone More speed, more points! Grab all the items while you're at it! No points while hidden!" The objective of this trial is to run through the Hyperfunk Zone and get as high a score as possible, with the trial ending once time is up. The player can use either ToeJam or Earl for this trial.
