Flying Nightmares is a flight simulator released for the 3DO by Domark in 1995. It was originally announced as a Sega Mega-CD as AV8B Harrier Assault before adopting its final name[1] in 1994.
As suggested by its original name, Flying Nightmares was based on the 1992 home computer game the AV-8B Harrier Assault, however would replace the graphics with pre-rendered 3D imagery combined with sprite scaling[4], and add full motion video clips to the introduction and death sequences.
The Mega-CD version of the game was reportedly quite far in development, being advertised, given cover art and being sent out to the video game press for review. The game did not materialise, however, with development migrated to the 3DO instead. The Mega-CD version (as AV8B Harrier Assault) was shown at Summer CES 1993[15].
Curiously a sequel, Flying Nightmares 2 was announced for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation before also being cancelled.
