DIC Entertainment, also known as DIC Animation City, was an international film and television production company most known for animating a number of popular American cartoon series during the 1980s and 1990s. The company has also licensed its various properties to video game developers like Sega for the production of tie-in merchandise. DIC is notable for producing three television series based on the Sonic franchise: Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic Underground.

Company
DIC Entertainment was founded in 1971 as DIC Audiovisuel by Jean Chalopin as a subsidiary of Radio-Television Luxembourg (RTL). The company's name was originally an acronym for Diffusion, Information et Communication. DIC's American arm was established in 1982 as DIC Enterprises, founded by Andy Heyward, Robby London, and Michael Maliani and located in Burbank, California.
On June 20, 2008, DIC was acquired by and later folded into Cookie Jar Group. As of 2023, most of the DIC library is currently owned by WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) after the company acquired Cookie Jar on October 22, 2012. Serendipitously, WildBrain co-produced the 2022 animated series Sonic Prime.
