This template will be used at some point to house arcade scans, because the regular ScanBox template isn't really suitable (the obvious point being that most arcade games don't have "boxes").
I don't really know how arcades work, so I don't actually know what material is common to an arcade release. I would expect all games would ship with a manual, and with later systems, a cartridge/disc with the actual game on it, but other scannable material, which I am assured exists, is a mystery for me. Here's what I understand:
- Most upright cabinets ship with marquees which can be scanned
- A good chunk of systems ship with instruction cards/panels/whatever - things that aren't printed onto the cabinet
- PCB scans/photos might be possible, though I'm not sure how much the earlier ones vary between games
- There are conversion kits for no frills cabinets (btw these will all need separating at some point) - that means more scannable artwork or panels or instructions or whatever
- Flyers are separate. We're now classing these as "promotional material" much like press releases or advertisments or whatever, which means the ScanFlyer template will go.
- The internet is filled with reproductions - we don't want any of them.
We will also need to accommodate all of Sega's weird cabinet designs and conversion kits. Like the scanbox template the idea would be to have a separate one for each "region".
