Descent II is the sequel to Descent, originally released for Windows PCs, Macintoshes and the Acorn Archimedes in 1996 before being ported to the PlayStation in April 1997.

A Sega Saturn version was planned to arrive around the same period as the PlayStation version, but was cancelled for unknown reasons. Curiously its predecessor had also been planned for the Saturn before being cut.
