| − | In early 2010, the moderators of [[Sonic Retro]] decided to separate the vast amounts of [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] information with any that was related to [[Sega]] as a whole. The idea was in the pipeline for a long time, but it needed a jump point to finally set it off. The Retro Admins decided to do this via an April Fools Prank, in which Sonic Retro was canceled by the unruly members and their behavior towards the game [[Sonic 4]], which wasn't living up to expectations and was causing much trouble for the Admins at the time. [http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=20262] This was the perfect time to announce Sega Retro, however many members were confused at the idea that Sega Retro was going to replace Sonic Retro, but this was never the case. The Admins said the cancellation of Sonic Retro was the April Fools Joke, and that Sega Retro, while being part of said joke, was here to stay. It would act as a sister site for Sonic Retro housing all the Sega-related information from the Sonic Retro wiki and much more relating to the games, systems, and history of Sega.
