The Lord of the Rings is an unreleased Sega Mega Drive game based on the books of the same name. It was announced at Winter CES 1992[2] by Electronic Arts, and was briefly mentioned in some promotional material[3] but was cancelled shortly afterwards.
With the release of film adaptions by Peter Jackson in the early 2000s, EA would regain the rights and begin producing Lord of the Rings tie-ins, starting with The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in 2002.
