In the Japanese version, the introduction plays as part of the demo sequence if the player does not start the game. In the overseas versions, the introduction plays after the player starts the game.
Besides being localized into English, the overseas versions shorten Prince Talmit's hair and remove the fairy Bunny's bunny ears.

In the Japanese version, the player can change the starting number of lives (players) directly. In the overseas versions, the number of lives is tied to the selected difficulty level. The overseas versions also have different control schemes.
