This template was designed to give a more visual representation of dimensions, because it seemed like a good idea two days ago in my head.
Problems with it:
- a) I half-arsed the depths because I couldn't be bothered to do the maths, so those appear shorter than they should
- b) The labels aren't centred properly. I was hoping if you put them in the middle and did text-align:center it would sort itself out, but appears not
- c) It only accepts metric units, which is bad because most of the dimensions listed on this wiki are in inches. I've done the conversions before but that template formats things as well - the bits dealing with raw numbers need splitting out so the functionality can be shared.
- d) it struggles when things get too small, because font sizes are fixed
The diagramsize argument is a bit flimsy too - something more intelligent will also be needed if we're to do size comparisons for whatever reason.

Scale
This task is unfinished This is a wiki task that requires more thought or peer review. An important issue that needs to be solved, which will appear at the top of Sega Retro:Todo until this message is removed. |
The size of these diagrams is dictated by "diagramsize", but really it ought to be a fixed scale, (e.g. 1px = Xmm). If you've got an arcade machine split into multiple bits, (e.g. WCCF), each component is rendered at a different scale.
I was going to implement this five years ago but... I didn't. And I still haven't. -Black Squirrel (talk) 12:23, 19 October 2023 (EDT)
