The Mega Drive prototype of Striker is a prototype build of Striker for the Sega Mega Drive. It is an early build of the game of (currently) unknown origin.
The build date of this prototype is unknown; the header (which still refers to the game as Ultimate Soccer) has a February 1994 date, and more complete builds were previewed in magazines in November/December (Mean Machines Sega suggesting the project started in March 1994[1]). It most likely dates from the summer or autumn of 1994.
This prototype is noticeably unfinished, with rough menus, no AI players and no audio. While not all teams are fully implemented, curiously those which are use real world names, rather than the fake ones seen in the final game. Only friendly matches and the penalty shoot-out mode are implemented; attempting anything else causes the game to reset.
