Commandos 2 is the sequel to the 1998 PC game, Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. It was originally set to be released for the Sega Dreamcast, but was cancelled. Other versions gained the subtitle Men of Courage before release.

The Dreamcast version of Commandos 2 was cancelled after publisher Eidos Interactive "re-evaluated its investment" in the game, citing Sega's decision to pull out of the hardware market[5]. Pyro Studios would instead focus on the PlayStation 2 and later Xbox releases, although the PS2 version would miss its Winter 2001[5] deadline by another eight months.
