The IR 7000 Communicator is a handheld device released by Sega in 1994. The IR 7000 can be seen as a predecessor to modern mobile phones - it allows users to communicate with other IR 7000 units via an infra-red beam. The IR 7000 can send text messages, play two-player games and act as a personal organiser, features not often seen on the market at the time.

It is not yet known whether the device was released outside of North America.
