In an attempt to simulate more colours, the Game Gear version rapidly switches between two different images of Ayrton Senna whenever he is on-screen. One frame renders his head, the next renders his body. The "ghosting" effect of an original Game Gear screen (caused by the the LCD technology of the early 90s not being able to update fast enough) allows this trick to work reasonably well, however on modern displays the flickering is far more noticeable.
