xm2smps
From Sega Retro
xm2smps is a program created by nineko that converts songs from the XM (eXtended Module) format to the SMPS (Sample Music Playback System) format hence allowing hackers to easily put custom music in their hacks.
It's not user-friendly by purpose, you must know what you're doing if you plan to use it. It runs under MS-DOS, and it has been obsoleted by xm3smps, which is an improved version for Microsoft Windows. Because of this, xm2smps won't be developed anymore.
Because of the limitations of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, most of the effects used in XM files (such as Arpeggio) aren't convertible; that, and the fact that module files aren't very popular, gives a very few options to people who want to import a song with this converter. However, it has been used with success in a good amount of well-known hacks, including Sonic 1 Remastered, Sonic Megamix, as well as upcoming hacks such as Sonic the Hedgehog Remix and Sonic 2 Megamix.
