VDP

Video Display Processor (VDP) is a name commonly associated with bespoke graphics processing units created by Sega for use in their video game consoles and arcade machines. Unlike other microchips used in Sega's consoles, VDPs were usually created by (or under guidance from) Sega themselves and are typically unique to the system they were designed for. Like all GPUs, VDPs assist in the process of rendering video game graphic data onto a television screen.
