Sega Megaworld Romford

I used to go here all the time as a teenager, and it made a huge impression on me. I'm not sure when it was opened and closed, but it didn't last long. It first appeared around 1995 when Debenhams in the town had a massive revamp. Specifically they set up the top floor as a kind of cutting edge entertainment area with a lot of electronics (TVs, etc) for sale, and a branch of - if I remember rightly - mail order firm Silica Systems. They were selling videogames and the Sega arcade was next to it. They were somehow linked, as when they ran the freeplay "Bonanaza night" promotions (which was towards the end of the arcade's life) you had to go to the till in Silica to buy a ticket to get in. I think the arcade was only open until around 1998, and the Silica shop soon followed it out (possibly it happened at the same time). I don't remember them changing the games round much if at all (can't remember if they started with Virtua Fighter 2 or not, I think they brought it in later) and I am pretty sure they never had any Model 3 games. --Moburma (talk) 15:47, 31 October 2018 (CDT)
