Localisation comparisons
The NTSC-U version includes a ™ symbol next to the Sega logo. The European version replaces this screen with the Codemasters logo, which is displayed after the Data East logo.
The PAL version adds "DEVELOPED BY" text above the Data East logo and displays this screen first.
The game has a different title in each version. In the NTSC-J version, the game is called Captain Lang. In the NTSC-U version, the game is called High Seas Havoc. In the PAL version, the game is called Capt'n Havoc (even though the box art simply titles the game "Havoc"[1]). The copyright information is also different across versions, with "LICENSED BY SEGA ENTERPRISES LTD." being added on the NTSC-U title screen, and the copyright info being replaced with "© CODEMASTERS SOFTWARE CO. LTD. 1994" in the PAL version.
The change in publishers for the PAL version is also reflected in the backgrounds on the options screen and level title cards. Also, the PAL version skips Cape Sealph completely and starts the player on the Pirate Ship. Cape Sealph is still in the game's data, and can be accessed by cheating.
