Dolphin Blue (ドルフィンブルー) is a Atomiswave side-scrolling action game released by Sammy in 2003. In 2020, it was hacked to make it playable on Dreamcast.[1]

Story

The game takes place in the future where something has caused nearly all the dry land to sink into the ocean. Those that survived built new civilizations on the few remaining pieces of dry land and took advantage of all the underwater ruins and their resources to live life anew. In this world, which now took the name of "Aquadia", the two main factions, the Royal Army and Evil Empire, square off for ultimate control of the land. The Royal Army, watched over by Princess Annette, is good, while the Evil Empire is run by several baddies and ex-marines.

You play as Erio, an arms dealer with a wild streak for adventure, or Anne, an idealistic young woman fighting for the Royal Army. When Princess Annette is kidnapped for her knowledge of the "Blue Tear", it' up to Erio and Anne to rescue her.

Gameplay

The game is a typical side-scroller with horizontal shooter aspects. The player controls either Erio or Anne (whom are rendered as 2-dimensional sprites) through a 3D environment, as they ride super-powered dolphins across land and sea. Along the way, they can acquire guns, knives, and other power-ups to defeat the Evil Empire.
