Xbox Series X

Is it an Xbox One game or a Series X game?

So this is a thing. With Sony at least, there is a clear distinction between a PS4 and a PS5 game. However, Microsoft is doing things differently and intentionally obscuring what is what. So far, games like Sonic Colours: Ultimate say Xbox One on the box itself while Judgment Remastered only says Xbox Series X on it. Where we run into a problem is when games like Football Manager 2021 Xbox Edition turn up and they are digital only, because Microsoft's website just states everything the product works on without saying what platform the product originates from.

Moreover there are boxes that just say "Xbox" on them these days and as far as I can tell these discs have both an Xbox One and a Series X version on it? Does that make it an Xbox One game or a Series X game? If we go by achievements alone they are listed as Xbox One games. Such a game like that would be Yakuza: Like a Dragon; it has both Xbox One and Series X on the box, achievements would be Xbox One achievements, and it apparently houses two versions of itself on one disc. It's very confusing.

The only thing of note at the moment is that I noticed that Sonic Colors says "Xbox One" followed by "Series X" while Yakuza says "Series X" followed by "Xbox One". Then I noticed that both Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 AND Lost Judgement both followed this despite Colors coming out after Yakuza, so there IS some sort of pattern for...something. However, their achievements still list them as Xbox One games.

In conclusion, what do we want to do with this? As it stands, Judgment is the only actual Series X game that Sega has put out, or is it just that all the other games are also Series X games, just hiding behind some kind of Xbox One shield? Some of the games technically are Series X games, I guess, just with an Xbox One version tucked in? I'm not sure at this point.

I am also confused by this - my gut feeling was to list it under the... I guess "minimum specification" system, so Xbox One (i.e. "you need at least an Xbox One to play this") but when you have features that only apply to the Series X or S (Series S being another issue), that could be misleading. Microsoft treat "Xbox" as a PC-like platform now - this wasn't apparent when the templates were first written.

If it is indeed the case that Judgment is the only Sega game that requires an Xbox Series X or S, perhaps that should be the only game listed for the console - the rest are Xbox One. But I'm not sure if I want to make that call. -Black Squirrel (talk) 07:07, 2 October 2021 (EDT)

I was going to suggest doing what we did with the Xbox One page and just bold things with enhancements, but that technically goes for every single game on the Series X list. Looking into this more, there are only 55 Xbox series X games to date at the moment (https://www.xboxachievements.com/games/xbox-series-x/), with the only Sega game being Judgment Remastered. I think we should just list the rest of the games as being backwards compatible on the Series X/S page and for the game pages themselves try to find and list whatever specifications the games are enhanced with.
