Sega Passport (セガ パスポート) was payment system developed by Sega and Sony Finance International for the Japanese market. It was an implementation of the "Edy" electronic money system and was designed to offer a new method of payment for using Sega's amusement facilities[1].
Those which signed up for a Sega Passport would receive 500 "game points" which could be spent on Sega's arcade machines (initially those at Club Sega Osaki where the system was trialed (from 20th February 2004), before a nationwide rollout). Users could purchase more game points, acting as an alternative means of payment over physical coins. The use of the Sega Passport would also grant the user points for the Sega Mobile Friends system, and would get a ¥500 discount at Tokyo Joypolis if shown[1].
