Crash the game
The initial release of Jordan vs Bird (and the Japanese version) does not handle D-pad inputs properly. If the user is able to press more than two directions at once during play, the game will crash, throwing up an "ADDRESS ERROR" message (or a black screen, depending on the combination).
Typically this shouldn't happen, as the D-pad is meant to tilt; in theory it should be impossible to press + or + at the same time, but in practise, both electrical pads can make contact between frames (and indeed not all controllers are designed to stop this from happening). It is also a behaviour missing from many emulators.
Publishers EA became aware of this problem and set up a special support phone line[1], before issuing a new revision of the game that fixed the bug. Their advice was to "be more of a Jordan-style finesse player and less of a Barkley-style power player"[1].
Fixed in REV 01.
