Breakfast of Champions was a promotional press conference held between Sega of America and Capcom USA on March 10, 1993, where the two companies announced both their formal partnership and the upcoming Street Fighter II Champion Edition.[1]

Event
Capcom becoming a third-party Mega Drive developer was a significant accomplishment for Sega, and was announced with a now-famous image of Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog shaking hands in agreement.
Breakfast of Champions was held at Redwood City's Sofitel San Francisco Bay, a hotel located only a minute's walk from Sega of America's Redwood Shores headquarters, and a venue the company would use again.[3]
