JPM International, Ltd. was a British designer and manufacturer of slot machines[4][5] founded in Cardiff, on September 11, 1972[6] as JPM Automatic Machines Ltd[7] (the name of the company until November 1994[8]) by John Alan Jones[9] and David Edward Barron.
The company was acquired in 1988[10] by Whitbread plc, a British multinational hotel and restaurant company based in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, with origins in brewing, which sold it to management in August 1992[10].
JPM became a Sega company in April 1996[11], when Sega bought its parent holding company, Games Network Ltd.. It sold the company in 2004 to Tony Jones (JPM International's former COO and Group Finance Director[12]) and Brian Mitchell (JPM International's former Group Operations Director[12]).
In 2010, the company was acquired by Simon Herbert[13], former CEO International at Astro Corp. of Taiwan[14], which after some restructuring internally, focused on materials costs and improvement in trade terms which resulted in a return to profit in 2011. However, at the beginning of 2012, due to a decline in demand from the major export customers and the financial pressures of the pension fund that Simon Herbert acquired along with the company in 2010, JPM International, Ltd was put in a bad financial situation.
On October 4, 2013[15] after a board meeting, Simon Herbert instructed British business advisory firm FRP Advisory LLP[16][17] to assist management in placing JPM International, Ltd into voluntary liquidation only to acquire it back a few weeks later[18][19] in an attempt to save the company from dissolution.
Whatever the reasons, the company was ultimately dissolved following liquidation on June 25, 2015[3].
