Sega Enterprises Ltd. v. Maphia, 857 F.Supp. 679 (N.D. Cal. 1994), and Sega Enterprises Ltd. v. Maphia, 948 F.Supp. 923 (N.D. Cal. 1996), is a series of court cases in which the United States District Court for the Northern District of California applied American copyright infringement law to the illegal downloading and redistributing of Sega of America's Sega Genesis games by the online BBS group MAPHIA.[3].
