Segathon
From Sega Retro
The Segathon was a fundraising effort sponsored by Sega Europe to assist the BBC Children in Need charity in 1993.
The idea was to sponsor someone to play a Sonic the Hedgehog game for either 15 minutes or until a certain score was reached. Sponsors would state how much they were willing to pay per 10,000 points. Application forms were given away in an issue of Mega, with cheques sent directly to Children in Need (Sega presumably profiting from the venture by people buying Sonic games).
