Showdown is an arcade racing game released by Sega Amusements Europe. It is based on DiRT Showdown, and is the second collaboration between Sega Amusements and Codemasters following their previous arcade adaption of GRID.[3] The game initially retained the DiRT series name during its development.[4] Like GRID and Sega Rally 3, it uses the Sega Europa-R hardware.[1]

Alongside standard sit-down cabinets, the game received a four player motion-based "Special Attraction" edition,[5] developed by Sega Amusements in co-operation with Product R&D,[6] and originally prototyped with curved projection screens.[7] Smaller single and two player versions of this were also planned (and in the latter case tested at trade shows), but never fully released to market.[8]
