- Back to: Striker (Mega Drive) (prototype).
There are no company logos or a language selection screen in this prototype; it goes straight to a simpler introduction sequence.
The title screen background is lighter than the final game, making it more difficult to see the menu. There is no copyright information.
Menus can only be selected by pressing START .
All the teams are displayed on one very messy screen. The layout is similar to Ultimate Soccer, and even has the old background graphics. The list of teams is slightly disorganised; national teams come first, then club teams, but not necessarily in alphabetical order like in the final game. There is a counter in the top left numbering each team from 0 to 251.
Pressing START begins the match immediately; the "match on" screen has yet to be implemented.
The pause menu has fewer options and can be viewed at any time during play.
In the penalty shoot-out mode, palettes are wrong, player graphics are different and the direction of the ball is dictated by the position of a moving arrow on the floor, rather than and . The numbers in the top left and right don't increment when goals are scored, but the prototype still keeps track and will end when it detects a winner.
The prototype lets you customise a single team (called "CUSTOM TEAM"), but does not save. The menu is wrought with palette issues, and changing colours involves selecting parts of the team photo, rather than little icons.
