Manchester United Football Club, Ltd. v. Sega Publishing Europe, Ltd., 2116192, is a 2021 case in which English football club Manchester United plc sued Sega Publishing Europe and the developers of the Football Manager series - Sports Interactive - over the proper display of their trademarks in Football Manager games.[3]

History

In May 2020, Manchester United announced it was threatening to sue Sega Publishing Europe and the developers of the Football Manager series - Sports Interactive - for both not displaying the proper Manchester United crest beside the team name during gameplay (despite this having been the case since 1992[4]), and for failing to stop modders from releasing Manchester United-related content.[5][6]

Results

On August 6, 2021, Manchester United announced it had reached a settlement with Sega Publishing Europe[7], with both parties finalizing the settlement the following September 16.[2]
