Nippon Kikai Seizo was a successor to the manufacturing arm of Service Games, Japan, incorporated on the same day as Nippon Goraku Bussan (the distribution arm) in Japan. Nippon Kikai Seizo traded as Sega Inc., the "Sega" name being adopted from Service Games products.

Despite originally being split in 1960, Nippon Goraku Bussan would acquire Nippon Kikai Seizo in June 1964.
