CHICAGO, IL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 21, 1994--Quixote Corporation (Nasdaq:QUIX) today announced that its Disc Manufacturing, Inc. (DMI) subsidiary has been selected as the first independent replicator of Sega CDs, after successfully completing Sega's stringent qualification process. Under the agreement, Sega of America (Redwood City, CA) has designated DMI as an authorized manufacturer of Sega CD products for third party software licensees. This agreement comes as a response to Sega's rapid growth in the CD-based home entertainment marketplace and an emerging shift by the public from cartridge-based to optical-based products in general. Sega expects to have nearly 2 million Sega CDs in homes by the end of this year.

Chris Garske, Vice President of New Business Development and Third Party Licensing for Sega, stated, "DMI has clearly demonstrated that they have the superior technology and customer service to ensure that Sega licensees will have a strong presence in the marketplace." Rusty Capers, DMI's Vice President of CD-ROM Business Development, commented, "We are honored that Sega has chosen Disc Manufacturing as one of their authorized replicators. Sega CD is certainly in line with the future of home entertainment and we look forward to helping Sega make the technology successful in the market. In addition, the agreement enables us to better serve the manufacturing needs of our present customers by adding a third home-use specialty platform to our existing capability which includes 3DO and Kodak."
