Plasma Sword begins hundreds of years in the future when Earth is on the brink of mental warfare. The power of the mind holds the key to the human race through powerful weapons based on “Plasma Power” - energy drawn from the user’s own mental capacity. Originally developed to protect Earth from extra-terrestrial invaders, Plasma weapons have done more harm than good.

In Star Gladiator, the evil Dr. Bilstein, the creator of Plasma weapons, formed a vengeful terrorist group known as the 4th Empire to conquer Earth. Through a hard fought battle, the Star Gladiator team destroyed the 4th Empire and the maniacal Dr. Bilstein. In Plasma Sword, one year has passed since Bilstein's death and collapse of the 4th Empire. The Galaxy has been enjoying peace and prosperity like never before. However, a strange rumor circulates the Galaxy that Bilstein's ghost inhabits the planet Zeta, the planet where he died. Anxious to unlock the mystery, an investigation team is sent, but never returns. Is Bilstein alive? Shrouded in mystery, a new battle is about to begin...

Forming the new Star Gladiator team is a wild collection of agile and savage warriors. These Plasma Sword warriors include:

- Hayato, Earth’s hero and master of the Plasma Sword

- Zelkin, the Bird-man armed with a wicked beak and razor-sharp claws

- June, champion gymnast and mistress of the Plasma Circles
