ActiveMagic Ltd was a video game distributor that operated in Yugoslavia.

History

ActiveMagic was founded in 1988 when Milan Stajčić left Mastertronic. Milan was trying to stop piracy in Socialist Yugoslavia by putting pressure on the country's three computer magazines. The company signed a contract with Mastertronic for the distribution of all its products in Eastern Europe. The games were produced by Ljubljana, one of Yugoslavia's ten TV companies, and had identical packaging to the UK versions apart from Yugoslavian text. ActiveMagic was distributor of games for Commodore, Spectrum, Amstrad, Amiga and Atari produced by Sega, Imagine, Ricochet, Mastertronic, Codemasters, Bull Dog Software, Grandslam, Epyx, US Gold, Data East, American Software, Melbourne House and Ocean. An ActiveFilm company was also created which dealt with the distribution of movies on VHS. In the 90s, the company still sold exported hardware, software and movies. In late 1995, ActiveMagic was selected by Sega Europe as representative and distributor of Sega in Slovenia and Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In 1998, they moved from entertainment market to property rental market.
