In the Japanese version, the opening movie uses professional baseball videos licensed by NHK and Nippon TV. In the US version, the footage is edited out or blurred to make the players indistinguishable.

The "Edit Team" and "Data Base" options were removed, the "Championship Game" mode was added, and "Pennant Race" was renamed to "Regular Season" in Bases Loaded '96. As there are now only five choices in the main menu, the alternating green and blue colours are dropped and everything is now green.
