- Back to: Castlevania: Bloodlines (prototype; 1993-08-04).
Different copyright information is displayed on boot.
If running on a Japanese system, "Vampire Killer" is displayed on the copyright screen, but the rest of the game is unchanged. The final game is region locked, meaning an entirely different ROM was produced for the Japanese market.
The prototype has a single screen introduction with completely different artwork and no music.
The title screen lacks the background from the final version. The animation for the logo appearing is slower and slightly different. The logo itself has no red shading, and the "Bloodlines" is placed slightly different and lacks the dripping blood.
"PASS WORD" became "PASSWORD" on the title screen.
The password screen is much simpler, consisting of just blue borders on a black background.
The game defaults to easy with four lives, while the final sets it to normal with three. The "Quick Demo" setting is simply "on" or "off", as opposed to "display" and "skip".
The character selection screen has different backgrounds.
There are no map or introduction screens; the prototype just jumps straight in to Stage 1-1. There are minor HUD differences and a timer, which counts continuously upwards and does not affect anything.
