- Back to: F-15 Strike Eagle II (prototype; 1992-07-13).
There is no Sega logo when starting the game. Instead, it starts off crediting MicroProse.
The MicroProse logo itself is "flatter" the final game and is accompanied with different text and a 1992 copyright.
The intro F-15 image is less refined and more off-frame. You have to press a button in the prototype to get to the title screen (although if you wait a while and press a button, it'll go straight into gameplay).
The title screen itself is very different and entirely static, more closely resembling the Amiga and Atari ST versions. It never transitions to a demo mode.
The prototype then boots straight into the difficulty select screen, and it's again very different to the final game. This is again a similar look to the Amiga and Atari ST versions, complete with "demo" option removed from the Mega Drive release.
The "select a game world" screen is also very different, again looking like its home computer siblings.
There is no mission briefing or strategy map; the game just starts. There are several subtle differences to the UI, but it's a closer match to the final game than the Amiga and Atari ST versions.
There is no pause menu; pressing START just swaps between views. The left cockpit view is practically the same.
Likewise with the right cockpit view.
There is more detail in the rear view than in the final game.
