VRML 2.0 tour includes eight areas; Blue Robot host; treasure hunt for valuable prizes; live links to SegaSoft; and much, much more.
Atlanta (June 19, 1997) - If you can't go to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), SegaSoft, Inc. will bring its booth and the show to you via the World Wide Web.

The SegaSoft VRML World Tour includes a richly animated, 3D virtual reality tour of the latest electronic entertainment offerings from SegaSoft. Hosted by a wise-cracking Blue Robot, the tour features an online treasure hunt in which visitors can win dozens of valuable prizes, including an IBM Aptiva personal computer, SegaSoft games and more.

"SegaSoft is a treasure trove of electronic entertainment," said Gary Griffiths, SegaSoft president and CEO. "With the advent of VRML 2.0 technology, we can now put the welcome mat out on the Web and invite the world to come on in and see what we have to offer."

The SegaSoft VRML World Tour kicks off June 18, 1997, at SegaSoft's Web site, which is located at www.segasoft.com, and runs through August. Visitors can download VRML 2.0, midi and tour plug-ins to their personal computer running either Netscape Navigator 2.0 or higher, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher. At 28.8, download time for the VRML package is less than 10 minutes (Blue Robot is a separate download which requires 10 MB). Approximately two megs of hard drive space are required for the tour.

VRML World Tour participants can check out eight different areas of the SegaSoft E3 booth. Each is richly animated and loaded with information about SegaSoft products and services. Areas include:

Blue Robot at Your Service
Blue Robot is your host on the SegaSoft VRML World Tour. A wise-cracking 1950s vintage tin robot rendered in delightful 3D animation, Blue Robot is the world's first animated Internet guide. When he's not telling bad jokes, Blue Robot will guide visitors to Web highlights, update them on the latest E3 and SegaSoft happenings, and offer tips on finding the letters to solve the SegaSoft E3 World Tour Contest.

Top prize in the SegaSoft E3 World Tour Contest is an IBM Aptiva personal computer loaded with SegaSoft games and a free HEAT membership. It and dozens of other prizes will be awarded in August. Winners will be chosen by random drawing from all correct entries submitted.

Be There or Not The SegaSoft VRML World Tour is open to the general public. Ideal for those who can't be in Atlanta between June 19 and 21, the tour also serves as a handy site guide to those attending this year's giant E3 trade show. Computers set up at the SegaSoft booth will allow visitors to preview product displays and other features within the booth.

SegaSoft is promoting its VRML World Tour, which will remain open through August, with an e-mail campaign to the 30,000+ registered members of its Web site. SegaSoft sales and marketing personnel are also extending special invitations to vendors and partners to join in the E3 fun via the Web. The site, at www.segasoft.com will also be previewing Table Top Sports, an online arcade, featuring four nostalgic classics and two original games. This is a work in progress that will initially be available to members only.

Behind the Screens
The SegaSoft VRML World Tour was created with Internet 3D Space Builder, an advanced VRML authoring tool from Paragraph International. Its sophisticated texture mapping and other features bring a true sense of "being there" to the tour.

The SegaSoft VRML World Tour requires a Pentium 120-class PC running Windows 95 and equipped with a VRML 2.0-enabled browser, such as Netscape Navigator 2.0, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, a 28.8 modem, soundcard and VGA monitor.
