 `Earthworm Jim 2' for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis Systems Hits Retail Shelves on November 15

LA MIRADA, Calif., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "Earthworm Jim 2(TM)" the video game sequel to 1994's widely-acclaimed "Game of the Year," will be hitting retail shelves nationwide on Earthworm Wednesday, Nov. 15. The wacky title produced by Playmates Interactive Entertainment (P.I.E.) will be available on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems initially, with a Sega Saturn edition scheduled for release in January.

Developed for P.I.E, by Shiny Entertainment, "Earthworm Jim 2" finds our hero traversing the universe to prevent the evil Psycrow(TM) from reaching Lost Vegas for a "quickie wedding" with the love of Jim's life, Princess What's-Her-Name(TM). Should the princess marry, her husband becomes heir to the throne -- or, more accurately, one falling cow away from becoming "Monarch of the Galaxy!"

Following the princess from planet to planet, Jim must overcome obstacles in such strange worlds as Lorenzen's Soil, Villi People and Udderly Abducted. Among the many foes "the annelid with an attitude" must evade are pea-shooting cats, flying Sumo/Roman centurions, mutant superpowered penguins, and repressed Grannies.

"Earthworm Jim 2" features 10 levels and seven wacky but effective weapons. "New for EWJ2" are a passcode system and Jim's pal Snott, who can stick to slime-covered pipes and rocks and function as a parachute (replacing the Jim Helicopter).

Timed to coincide with the launch of the series and video game sequel comes an exciting new line of action figures and accessories from Playmates Toys. Predicted to be a sure-fire holiday hit, the toy line features three different Earthworm Jim figures plus Princess-What's-Her- Name, Psycrow, Hench Rat & Evil the Cat, Bob and #4 and Peter Puppy.

Additional November releases from Playmates Interactive Entertainment are "Mutant Chronicles(R): Doomtroopers(TM)," based on the popular card game, for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis; and "WildC.A.Ts(TM)," further adventures of Jim Lee's comic book superheroes, for Super Nintendo.
