A HAUNTINGLY POPULAR FAVORITE, CASPER, MAKES AN APPEARANCE ON THE 32 BIT CONSOLES

Irvine, CA -- Interplay Productions and MCA/Universal Merchandising announced today that Casper will be appearing on the Sony PlayStation, SEGA Saturn, and 3DO® platforms in March. Interplay will be using the actual voices from the hit movie Casper by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, Universal Pictures and The Harvey Entertainment Company. Similar 3D character models from the movie will be featured in the video game.

"In conjuction with the launch of the Casper television series this February, we look forward to such innovative and entertaining products as Interplay Productions' new video game Casper," says Nancy Cushing-Jones, executive vice president of MCA/Universal Merchandising and president of MCA Publishing Rights. "The series will translate well to video game with its hilarious and offbeat game play for both kids and adults alike."

"If you're worried about aggressiveness in software titles, this is the game for the entire household to enjoy," said Karen Schohan, Interplay's marketing manager. "Casper is a must-have game for the next-generation game platforms."

Casper's appearance on the next-generation systems will create some unique and incredible game play. Casper will be able to fly, phase through doors, and funnel through vents. Casper will also have the translucent effect that was featured in the movie.

The game contains different puzzles to solve. Players can endlessly explore secret passageways and find hidden clues. Casper also contains hilarious sight gags and mixes in the comedic overtones with this cool and challenging action/strategy game that kids and adults alike will enjoy. Gamers explore Whipstaff Manor searching for pieces of the Lazarus Machine that has been dismantled and hidden in various places. During the search, gamers will encounter many of the familiar characters in the movie and find lost pieces of the Lazarus Machine that will transfer Casper back to the land of the living.

The all new animated series will begin this February on the Fox Kids Network from Universal Television and the Harvey Entertainment Company. The series will feature new Casper adventures that will be offbeat, funny, irrreverent and unpredictable. With over 50 years of brand recognition, Casper was re-introduced this summer in the blockbuster feature film and recent successful home video release. Story editing of the animated television series is by Sherri Stoner, one of the writers of the feature film Casper. Casper will be joined by the irrepressible ghostly trio, Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso, his "fleshie" friends Kat and Dr. Harvey, and lots of new ghostly guests.
