WILL YOU SURVIVE CHANNEL FIVE?

March, 1997 Video gamers could be in for a shock this Easter as distorted pictures and dodgy sound start to detract from their fun. The Sega Saturn is the only games console to come packed with a 21-pin Scart connector - the simplest way to avoid interference from Channel 5 which launches on 30th March.

Channel 5 uses a number of different frequencies to avoid clashes with other TV broadcasters. Unfortunately some are close to frequencies used by video game consoles and this could result in interference - patterning across the picture and poorer sound quality.

The Saturn's Scart connector also offers these advantages:

    Hi-fi stereo sound quality and Dolby Surround sound
    Automatic switching - you don't have to tune in the TV 

Under EEC guidelines all TV sets sold in the UK, including portable models, must feature a Scart socket (most feature two).
