21st April, 1997 Sega has skated off with an exclusive sponsorship deal to back the Bauer In-Line Festival 1997- Britain's premiere in-line skating event. Starting in June, the festival will visit seven major venues across the UK throughout the summer, giving Sega nationwide exposure among the sport's many young enthusiasts. "This exciting deal will see Sega benefiting from association with Europe's fastest growing 'extreme sport', which shares videogaming's primary target market of 12 - 25 year olds", comments Jo Bladen Sega's UK Marketing Director. The festival - the first of its kind in the UK - is expected to generate high profile national and regional media coverage. Local Radio roadshow units will be at the carnival-themed events helping to extend the festival's reach with outside broadcasts. The Saturn Challenge bus will be capitalising on extensive sampling opportunities by offering festival-goers the chance to try Sega's latest software line-up for free. Sega branding will appear on street-hockey rinks and throughout an 'aggressive' area with a vert ramp and a street-skating course. Sega is currently finalising this year's sports and music sponsorship programme. High-profile summer music festivals, nightclub tours and major sporting events have been targeted.
