LUSCIOUS JACKSON LEAD SINGER SPEAKS UP IN NEW SEGA VIDEO GAME REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- (June 23, 1997) -- Sega® of America announced today that Jill Cunniff, lead singer of the rock band Luscious Jackson, will be the voice for the "digital actress," Laura Lewis, in the much anticipated video game/interactive movie "Enemy ZeroTM." The game, highly reliant on the revolutionary audio effects and soundtrack to build suspense, will be available for the Sega SaturnTM video game system and the PC this fall. In "Enemy Zero," the main character Laura Lewis is one of the survivors on a spacecraft and must rely on her inner strength, determination, strong will and senses to find and kill the invisible deadly alien on board. Cunniff's unique voice will play a significant role in the game because players get audio clues from her, among other sources, to survive. "This game was designed around the concept that what you hear can be as useful or frightening as what you see -- your imagination goes wild with all kinds of scenarios about what you're likely to encounter around every corner," said Jill Cunniff, lead singer of Luscious Jackson. "I am excited about this project because it gives me a chance to stretch my performance abilities to convey all the terror, frustration, anger and surprise found in the game." "Cunniff has a widespread appeal with both men and women of all ages, and with the overwhelming popularity of Luscious Jackson, we saw this as a perfect fit," said Bernard Stolar, chief operating officer, Sega of America. "From the high resolution interactive graphics to the voice of one of their favorite rock singers, gamers and music fans alike will be amazed with all that `Enemy Zero' has to offer." "Enemy Zero" is an alien adventure where players must rely on five senses to kill an attacker they can't see. With visually stunning 3D graphics and heart-pounding sound effects, players must survive through hours of intense gameplay using their instincts to find clues, weapons and maps in order to defeat the creature lurking on board the spacecraft. New York based rock band Luscious Jackson is comprised of four female musicians. They have recently released the album Fever In Fever Out, featuring the hit single, "Naked Eye," which is currently a hit on the Billboard Top 100. Created by renowned artist Kenji Eno (creator of "D"), "Enemy Zero" contains the same sophistication, intensity, exquisite graphics and compelling story content for which his multi-million dollar Japanese production company is known. Eno created Laura Lewis as the industry's first "digital actress" -- the same woman plays different leading roles in different video games. With a score composed by Michael Nyman, Academy Award" Nominee for The Piano soundtrack, "Enemy Zero" sustains its horror movie-like atmosphere, keeping players on the edge of their seats for hours of game play. "Enemy Zero" will be available in retail outlets nationwide for the Sega Saturn and PC for $49.99 this November.
