SEGA TAPS NEW DIRECTOR FOR PC GAME SALES Sega Creates New Position to Support its Growing PC Games Business REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- (September 15, 1997) -- Sega Entertainment, Inc. (SEI) today appointed Skip McFerran as director of sales for the company's growing PC games business. McFerran will be Sega's first sales director dedicated specifically to the PC games category. McFerran most recently served as Sega of America's Midwest regional sales director for home console video game sales. His move to Sega Entertainment comes as the company expands it presence in the PC software retail channel, having recently earned a spot on PC Data's top 25 software publishers list. "Skip has more than 20 years of experience in retail sales in roles ranging from buyer to merchandise manager to national sales director," said Shinobu Toyoda, chairman and CEO, SEI. "Skip understands the mass-market retailer and consumer that Sega's PC games appeal to; we're fortunate to have him dedicated to our team." SEI, known for enhancing Sega's best arcade, sports and character games for the PC, will ship 12 titles this year. Included in the line-up are games based on Sega's most popular driving, fighting and character properties - "DaytonaTM USA Deluxe," "Virtua Fighter 2TM" and "SonicTM 3D Blast," respectively. Sega Entertainment, Inc. was founded in April of 1996, and aims to bring 3D polygon-based action/arcade, racing and sports gaming to the PC. Leveraging Sega's arcade leadership and library of game content, the company is committed to redefining the PC gaming experience with titles featuring high frame rates, 3D characters and environments, high polygon counts, detailed texture mapping, multiplayer online gaming and emotion-triggered gameplay that is unmatched by competing PC games.
